Description:
We’re looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join a team that is doing migration of on-prem Oracle workloads/ apps to Hybrid Oracle Cloud.
The successfull candidate will join the feature team in a consultative/coaching role to guide the new ways of working and enable feature team velocity
Existing two teams on the Client’s side are:
1) Feature Team – 4-5 team members including Lead Engineer and 3 / 4 engineers.
2) Support Team – 10 team members – on-prem focused oracle DBAs.
The scope of the migration includes 1000+ workloads. The approach is to migrate to PostgreSQL as a preferred option, however if not feasible migrate to Oracle Cloud. Many of the simpler/ lower risk workloads have been migrated, they now need to focus on more complex/ higher risk applications. Hybrid approach means that all DB’s remain on–prem as a transition to full cloud.

Requirements:
Solid experience in migration of on prem Oracle workloads / applications to Hybrid Oracle Cloud.
Must have:
Hands on Oracle Cloud Platform that alligns with Public Cloud principles and alligned with the following toolchain:
- Hands-on experience with Terraform IaC
- Ansible
- Gitlab
- Experience in issue tracking with JIRA;
- English at an advanced level (read/written/spoken). Ability to take part in day-to-day communication and lead a conversation with other stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Enable a model of working on the Oracle Cloud (Customer) platform that alligns with Public Cloud principles.
- Reduce manual configuration via Oracle Cloud Interface.
- Apply technical debt elimination strategy – define, prioritise and track technical debt via measures; define and agree ways to reduce and erase tech debt.
- Increase feature team velocity – adoption of the approved toolchain, automating manual activities and ensuring common templates/ patterns for repeated activities.
- Create and maintain relevant documentation
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and performance.
