Description:
Our client is a performance rights organization in the United States. It collects blanket license fees from businesses that use music, entitling those businesses to play or sync any songs from the client’s repertoire of over 22.4 million musical works. On a regular basis, the client distributes the money to songwriters, composers, and music publishers as royalties to those members whose works have been performed.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or a related field.
- Experience: experience in the music industry with specific experience in copyright, royalties, and customer service; and proven track record of product management with experience implementing technology and process improvement.

Job Responsibilities:
As the Product Owner, the individual will be responsible for ensuring that technology solutions and products align with the organizational vision and marketplace needs. The role will collaborate with organizational leaders and/or external parties to continually assess current business needs, new or evolving business opportunities as well as other pertinent information to ensure that all related products are mature and align with the organization’s strategic objectives.
- Works with the team to ensure that the vision for each product (technology solution) is clearly stated or updated.
- Collaborates with team members to understand and anticipate their needs and translates them into product features and capabilities.
- Facilitates sessions, ensuring that dependencies and integration points are highlighted and communicated.
- Maintains and updates high-level documentation of the business architecture that is foundational in building or evolving technology solutions.
- Maintains or contributes to the product roadmap that captures necessary product features, prioritization of the features and timeline for delivery.
- Provides advocacy, guidance and/or decisions to both internal and external technology partners.
- Develops the business case for new products, features, or customization work for existing solutions
- Provides thought leadership and decision-making for configuration and development efforts for software packages that align with stated business objectives.
- Collaborates and coordinates activities with members of the Data Analyst, Training, Process Re-engineering, and other relevant support areas during different phases of the product development lifecycle. This includes data migration, feature user story creation, enhancements, user acceptance testing and training.
- Monitors and evaluates product progress at each stage of the process.
- Liaises with the Information Technology team and end-users to deliver updates.
- Monitors industry trends and conducts market research to identify relevant opportunities for product enhancement.
- Works with impacted areas to ensure teams are prepared through proper communication, training, and change management activities for product deployment.
- Maintains and promotes teamwork within the department.
