Connecting people with books to develop the good in themselves

At Martinus, we named our purpose as “connecting people with books to develop the good in themselves” and that we really mean it. We want to build a country of readers, because we believe that it has a chance to be a better country. Even if we had to send you to the library!
How do our innovations come about and how do we use design thinking, prototyping, customer research and other principles to make data-driven decisions? How do we create services that are efficient, long-term sustainable, but at the same time humane and pleasant for our customers? You will learn how, by systematically working with the needs of our readers, we transform Martinus both online and offline, right down to steps that sometimes sound business-like.

Matúš Marcin – Product Manager, Martinus

He has 20 years of experience in IT, as a freelancer, in small companies and startups, but also in large corporations. He also worked as a web developer and tech lead at GlobalLogic Slovakia. Since 2019, he has been devoting his time to the well-known Slovak love brand Martinus, where he helped create the Explore team, which focuses on innovations in the online and offline book world. In the last chapter of his professional life, Matúš decided to build on his broad outlook, versatility and strong technical background in the role of product manager. And we keep our fingers crossed for him!

Predstavíme si aktuálne technologické trendy v medicíne a zdravotníctve.

Health (with) the future

What was considered science fiction a few decades ago is now reality. Thanks to advances in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, genetic engineering and digital technologies, we have a huge potential to change the way we take care of our health.

In the future, healthcare will be more personalized, more efficient and more affordable. It will focus not only on the treatment of diseases, but also on the prevention and promotion of health and travel. From the monitoring of health status with wearable devices to the use of artificial intelligence in diagnostics – the world of health care is changing before our eyes. If IT can help in this area, this will already be the goal of the solitary presentation.

Autonomous robotic assistant for non-invasive cardiological surgery

At Meetup, learn about the use of artificial intelligence and robotics in health care. Ondrej presents his project to med-tech startups, where an autonomous robotic system is being developed to navigate the TEE probe through the human esophagus. The Tento robot uses AI to visualize the heart in real time, thereby supporting non-invasive cardiology operations. We will discuss the challenges and key moments in the development of an AI-driven pipeline for facial processing, the transformation of static models into realistic simulations of heart motion, and how AI can revolutionize medical procedures. We will go through the development from the initial phases of the project, the processing of medical data and the training of advanced models, to the final testing of the robot on patients and the acquired knowledge.

Ondrej Palkoci – AI/ML specialist

Ondrej is an AI/ML specialist and a cloud engineer in a med-tech startup, where he participates in the development of a robot navigated by artificial intelligence. He has extensive experience in software development in various areas, including healthcare, hiring and automotive. A full-stack developer has back-end, front-end, testing, and mobile development skills, while data science focuses on innovative projects that push the boundaries of software development. He likes to pass on his know-how as a lecturer on various educational platforms.
