Please describe your career journey. What do you do at GlobalLogic Romania and what is your current role?

My passion for IT started at a young age. I majored in Math and Informatics during high school, but my initial experience was different than expected. After the first few weeks, I was so discouraged by my math results that I wanted to switch to studying history and philosophy. However, I decided to stay in the field due to my passion for computer science. I continued my studies in IT at Babes-Bolyai University.

I was so eager to start my career in programming that I started when I was still a student. Then, I appreciated my manager’s open-mindedness and our discussions about my project involvement. My journey with the company began in 2017 when I got hired as a Java Developer. I gathered vast experience with tools such as SpringBoot, RabbitMq, and OpenShift through multiple projects. I had the opportunity to work on various projects and with numerous teams, from which I learned a lot.

Since 2019, I have contributed to an initiative to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and support training. It all started with a desire to help our colleagues learn faster and more efficiently. So, I conducted workshops on various topics, such as GIT, OOP, Clean Code, Docker, and microservices. Over time, I improved and expanded my GIT workshop and I participated in a practice program with students.

Conducting workshops gives me immense satisfaction, as it allows me to share my knowledge and help others. It is truly inspiring to see the trainees’ faces show excitement and happiness when they solve a problem. I am committed to continuing these training sessions whenever the opportunity arises.

Could you please describe the project you’re currently working on?

Currently I am part of BCR’s team for the Digital Mortgage and I am helping them to deliver the first digital house loan in Romania.

As the first bank in Romania to offer a completely digital mortgage process, BCR has made it possible to apply for a loan from the comfort of your own home. Seeing positive outcomes in the market brings me and my team great satisfaction.

The project has the architecture based on the latest version of microservices (Java, SpringBoot, PostgreSQL, RabbitM, Openshift and Kubernetes).

What’s your favorite thing about this project?

I enjoy working on projects that align with my interests. I am particularly passionate about the financial industry and the high standards of quality that BCR requires in application development.

I appreciate this project for lots of reasons. First, in terms of integration into the BCR team, everything runs exceptionally smoothly. There are no discrepancies or differences in GlobalLogic vs BCR team, we are one team with the same access level. The team is really united, and I feel grateful to have such supportive colleagues. We always support each other, collaborate on projects, and work together to find solutions to problems. Rather than looking for someone to blame, we focus on finding solutions. By putting our strengths together, we achieve great things.

What’s the most challenging thing about this project?

The project is always on top of the latest technologies, such as using Java, SpringBoot to build microservices, RabbitMQ and Rest APIs for communication, and BPM for process orchestration. Refactoring is in progress on all projects, and everything sprints. Behind this pace is a large, hardworking, and experienced team. I appreciate the dynamics of the project and the swift integration of new technologies implemented by BCR. The team works quickly, and when I am on vacation for a few days, there’s a high chance that I’ll return to a completely different code.

How about the team? (the people, vibe and some funny stories?)

The team includes individuals from GlobalLogic and BCR, but we have no differences. Everyone is considered equal, regardless of their origin. As an Agile team, we approach every challenge positively and build software with a passion for our profession.

Please let us know you as a person, what are your hobbies and interests? How do you spend your spare time?

In programming, I enjoy tackling challenging tasks and producing high-quality code. Outside of work, I lead an active lifestyle and enjoy practicing fishing and tennis and going to the gym.

I enjoy fishing to unwind and disconnect from everyday life while connecting with nature. Fishing allows me to find myself and become comfortable spending time with my thoughts. Fishing is about more than luck; it requires much technique and knowledge. Like in any field, such as programming, knowing what to do, practicing, and always asking yourself why is essential. Understanding the reasoning behind what works and what doesn’t is critical.

During my fishing trips, I discovered Romania’s breathtaking landscapes, well-crafted fishing lakes, and great people to spend time with.

I was fortunate to meet a reliable partner last year with whom I could go fishing and share my life. I recently learned how to play tennis from her, and it has become a beloved hobby we enjoy regularly.

I have made sports a part of my life and regularly go to the gym. I take care of my diet and strive to lead a healthy and balanced lifestyle, which helps me achieve results in everything I do. The Moving Challenge Program is an intrinsic part of my life, and I walk as much as possible. All these activities positively impact my mind, body, and soul.

My top values are loyalty and reciprocity, which I apply in relationships, friendships, and work. Appreciation is a gesture of loyalty and recognition for your job.
