Discover how GlobalLogic’s AI-powered solutions helped a global software leader migrate...
Today, we dive into Daniel Stan’s journey from a passionate gamer to a Software Engineer at GlobalLogic Romania. Starting with a fascination for computers and a drive to understand how games are created, Daniel built a career in Java development, working across industries like automotive and finance.
Get a glimpse of #BehindTheCode to see how Daniel’s curiosity, hands-on approach to learning, and love for movement, both in coding and in life, fuel his professional growth and personal passions.
Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by computers, like many, my journey started with video games. But getting my first computer wasn’t as simple as just asking for one. I had to make deals with my father and put in the effort to earn it, and the same went for every upgrade after that.
At first, I was just a gamer, but over time, my curiosity grew. I wanted to understand how these games were created, how the graphics and objects came to life on the screen. That’s when my next passion kicked in. I set my sights on becoming a 3D artist. I spent countless hours watching tutorials on modeling, texturing, and shading, diving into tools like 3DS Max and Photoshop.
When the time came to choose a high school, mathematics and informatics seemed like the natural path. From there, I continued my journey at university, studying Automation and Computer Science.
While still a university student, I was eager to put my knowledge into practice, so I took my first job at Fortech, which would later become GlobalLogic. I started at the ground level as a junior Java developer, but with dedication and perseverance, I steadily advanced to a senior software developer role.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work across various domains, particularly in the automotive industry. I started with internal applications for aftersales, then moved on to packaging the software that was deployed directly into vehicles. Each project brought new challenges and learning experiences, deepening my technical expertise. Eventually, I was ready for a new chapter and made the leap into the finance sector, where I continue to explore and grow.
Currently, my role is that of a Senior Software Engineer, more specifically a Java Developer. My main responsibilities include developing new features to enhance our product, fixing bugs that arise, and implementing technical improvements to ensure the project remains efficient and scalable.
About six months ago, I became part of an exceptional team focused on developing in-house products for the banking industry. These applications serve both internal teams and customers, making our work both dynamic and highly impactful. Every feature we build directly contributes to streamlining operations and enhancing user experiences, which adds an extra layer of motivation and purpose to what we do.
More specifically, the current project is a revolutionary product in the Romanian market that enables online mortgage contracting. It creates a seamless experience for customers, guiding them through a simple process, answering a few questions about their new home, granting permission for various checks, and even signing agreements digitally. In the end, they receive a personalized set of offers tailored to their needs.
In this project, we strive to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to technology. Our microservices are running on the latest Java version, and we always make time to upgrade our Spring Boot version. We package our applications into Docker images and deploy them to OpenShift Kubernetes, ensuring a modern and efficient infrastructure. Also, the applications use a Business Process Management and Notation (BPMN) engine to design and implement the customer journey.
Without a doubt, the best part of this project is the people! Our team is a seamless blend of GlobalLogic colleagues and client-side teammates, all driven by a shared commitment to collaboration and innovation. The openness, communication, and teamwork make every challenge easier to tackle and every achievement more rewarding.
Of course, the project itself is no small feat. Its complexity and scale push us to continuously refine our approach, ensuring we deliver the best possible experience for users. But that’s exactly what makes it so exciting, there’s always something new to learn and improve!
Sports are a big part of my life. Whether it’s running, biking, or hiking, I’m always up for an adventure. That’s why GlobalLogic’s Moving Challenge was a perfect fit for me! Every day, I couldn’t wait to finish work so I could go outside walking, running, or cycling. Initially, I set a goal to collect as many points as possible until I got my motorcycle license, but even after I got both my license and the bike, I kept going. I continued doing all three activities daily!
I truly believe that spending hours at a desk in front of a computer is already too much static time each day. That’s why, outside of work, I make it a priority to move as much as possible.
Another passion of mine is building things, not just software, but anything I can get my hands on. I love DIY projects, whether it’s woodworking, working on my car and motorcycle, or tinkering with anything that can be taken apart (and hopefully put back together).

My goal is clear, to continuously grow, refine my skills, and expand my knowledge. In the ever-evolving world of technology, staying ahead means embracing change, exploring new concepts, and constantly challenging myself. Every project, every challenge, and every new technology is an opportunity to learn and improve, and I’m always eager to take that next step forward.
What makes GlobalLogic special is the flexibility and opportunities it offers. Whether you want to explore new technologies, switch domains, or take on new challenges, there’s always a way to grow. It’s the perfect place to find what excites you most in the world of engineering!
