Description:

Requirements:
Skills, experience & qualifications required:
– Extensive experience with Conan package manager, including creating recipes and handling complex dependency trees.
– Strong understanding of cross-compilation processes and toolchain management for multiple platforms (e.g., Ubuntu, QNX).
– Expertise in building both C++ libraries and executables, ensuring correct setup and compatibility across different systems.
– Proficient in C/C++ and Python with a solid understanding of build systems and package formats. Strong experience in managing system dependencies.
– Experience with transitioning large-scale software projects to new package management systems.
Skills, experience & qualifications nice to have:
– Proven experience with ROS2 architecture, package management, and build systems (CMake, autotools, setuptools).
– Familiarity with ROS2 and real-time operating systems (QNX preferred).
Job Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
– ROS2 dependencies transition to Conan package management: Oversee and implement the shift from system package managers (e.g., rosdep) to Conan for managing ROS2 and system dependencies across platforms (e.g., Ubuntu, QNX).
– Cross-compilation support: Develop and maintain toolchain configurations to build ROS2 packages on platforms that lack native system package managers (e.g. QNX).
– Optimize ROS2 dependency trees: Address and simplify the ROS2 group dependencies (group_depend), focusing on keeping a minimal set of dependencies and eliminating unnecessary transitive dependencies in ROS2 packages.
– Develop and maintain Conan recipes: Create and manage Conan recipes for ROS2 packages, including custom system dependencies and Python packages.
– Vendor package management: Identify and manage ROS2 vendored packages, ensuring compatibility with Conan recipes. Collaborate with the team to minimize the need for source code patching.
– Collaborate with robotics team: Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand package requirements, provide technical guidance, and support the integration of new dependencies into the development workflow.
– Documentation and training: Document the Conan transition process and train team members on new workflows and tools.
