Skills & Experience
Essential
Experience in Databricks and Spark is essential for this role.
Python scripting and SQL fluency will be very good benefit as well.
A 2:1 degree in Computer Science, Energy Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent fields
Fluent in Python
Experience developing machine learning models
Familiarity with SQL
Good understanding of software engineering best practices
Strong mathematical background (linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics)
Smart, motivated, can-do attitude, and seeks to make a difference
A self-starter who can find solutions to technical challenges through research and experimentation
Ability to communicate deliverables to a non-technical audience
Desirable
MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent fields
Familiar with version control
Experience with time series forecasting algorithms
Experienced working with cloud services (e.g. Azure)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines
Proficiency using Spark
Energy management, battery management or electric vehicle domain knowledge
Job Responsibilities:
The data science and analytics team is integral to our client project as a data-driven business. Our primary goals are to enhance the value of our product offerings and derive insights from our extensive innovation initiatives. The data science team operates within the Product division, collaborating with data engineers, software developers, business analysts, and technical architects. We are seeking to onboard a Graduate Data Scientist to expand our capabilities, contributing to both our innovation and business development projects.

Reporting directly to the Chief Data Scientist, your responsibilities will include:
Extracting insights from data gathered from a wide variety of sources with a focus on delivering value to our customers via our product and service offerings
Working with senior team members to develop forecasting and optimisation models to enable smart energy and power management
Report and present research findings and developments clearly and efficiently both internally and externally, verbally and in writing
Adoption of coding standards and participation in peer code reviews
Work closely with the wider product team to ensure overall quality of the delivered trials and technology
Write and maintain project documentation and specifications
Work with external collaborators and maintain relationships with key stakeholders as appropriate
