Description:
Test Automation Engineer role is part of the team responsible for ensuring the quality of
our memorialization platform, on both the front-end and back-end. Your primary responsibility is to
work with the Product, Infrastructure, and Engineering teams to align on product requirements,
compose test cases, and then wire those test cases up with our test automation platform in NodeJS. We
also use technologies such as AWS, Docker, Terraform, Jenkins CI, Selenoid, Allure, and others. This role
is fully remote, although we have an office in downtown Chicago if you choose to use it (see ‘Benefits’,
below).
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience with:
- NodeJS, Python, Ruby, or another similar language
- A modern web or testing framework (Django, Rails, React, Cucumber, Jasmine, Mocha, Chai, Robot Framework, Selenium Webdriver, and similar.)
- Composing SQL queries
- Using source control such as Git or Mercurial
- Comfortable in using Linux and macOS on the command line
- Firm understanding of the HTTP request/response cycle
- Demonstrated consistent ability with:
- Leadership, emotional intelligence, and empathy skills
- A very high degree of integrity, honesty, and discretion
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including documenting your work for others
- A focus on customer/user experience
- Effective standard workplace skills:
- Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
effectively
Job Responsibilities:
- Create and execute automated test cases using open-source testing and reporting tools
- Coordinate with the Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Support teams to write test cases and triage defects or production issues
Provide real-time status of test runs for development teams and business stakeholders - Summarize test reports over time to track the reliability of both the tests and the greater technology platform
- Provide timely and ongoing status to your assigned teams
- Document and track defects in our software until resolution
- Certify production software releases in lower environments as well as production
- Validate that our platform is performant and scalable on an ongoing basis
