As an Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in leading engineering teams to build high-availability, enterprise-level applications. You will oversee 5 to 10 direct reports, nurturing talent and fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment. Your strategic mindset, combined with strong technical and people skills, will be key to driving success within the team and the organization.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years of extensive leadership in managing teams and projects.
  • Strong technical expertise in TypeScript, React.js, and Node.js, with significant experience in cloud environments, particularly AWS.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, including service-oriented architectures, web services, object-oriented programming, design patterns, SOLID principles, data structures, algorithms, asynchronous frameworks, and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, demonstrating a deep understanding of DevOps practices.
  • Expertise in microservices architecture, AWS Lambda functions, serverless applications, and managing large datasets in high-availability enterprise systems.
  • Strong understanding of solution architecture and Agile methodologies.
  • Proven track record of leading and mentoring technical teams, with at least 10 years in a leadership role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and drive team performance.

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of software and test engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
  • Promote team engagement and well-being, recognizing its impact on overall performance.
  • Work closely with the Head of Engineering and Solution Architects to align engineering practices with company objectives.
  • Stay actively involved in coding and code reviews to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Champion Agile methodologies, driving efficiency and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Act as a liaison between engineering teams, stakeholders, and customers, ensuring technical solutions align with business needs.
  • Serve as a technical leader, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development for engineers.
  • Manage geographically distributed teams, demonstrating strong remote communication and coordination skills.
  • Provide one-on-one mentorship, helping team members set and achieve career goals.
  • Define clear career paths and provide guidance on skill development and progression within the organization.
  • Lead talent acquisition efforts, participate in hiring, and oversee onboarding to ensure smooth integration of new team members.
  • Implement a structured performance management system, setting clear objectives, tracking progress, and conducting periodic reviews.
