Industries and clients

Android Automotive for the infotainment

The client is a global supplier of embedded and connected software products and services for the automotive industry. It is a leader in automotive software with over 30 years in the industry, providing devices for vehicles and offering solutions for car infrastructure, connectivity, security, automated driving and user experience.

We have been working together with the client on creating an Android Automotive application for the infotainment system that communicates with AOSP and a Parse backend in order to improve user experience. The application is a client’s in-house project that will later on be integrated into infotainment systems of many other car manufacturers.

We are currently a small team that works on development, maintenance and improvement of the application. By using Jetpack Compose, Flow and Koin, the client is making sure to keep up with the latest Android technologies while keeping high code quality which is crucial in the Automotive industry. In adition, part of our job is integrating our solution into infotainment systems of car manufacturers.

Android System applications

Our team of seasoned software engineers has been working on an innovative project of developing Android System applications for control of automobile features.

Among many different activities, the most important is the development of CAN interfaces to access and monitor various automobile properties like ignition states, gear, speed, climate, lighting, seat control / using C++/Java Aidl files. In parallel, the team has been replacing Google Automotive UI with custom-themed components and implementing them in the system applications like Automotive Settings.

We have been writing custom Automotive applications to make all of the vehicle functionalities available through Android OS like. The functionalities are parking assistance, parental controls, external camera views, seat controls, ambiance control, trailer assistance, and much more.

To bring this solution to life we use Kotlin , Java , C++

Work model

We practice a hybrid work model and a 40-hour workweek.

We work both remotely and from the GlobalLogic office in Zagreb, taking into account work-life balance.

As a Senior Mobile engineer in Globallogic with 12 years of experience in software development I have been working with one of the leading clients in the Android automotive domain. This is a long-term project with the goal of producing Android infotainment for the car industry. While working on this project, I have been able to get a deeper understanding of how Android systems work and communicate to AOSP. Also, we have integrated current solutions into the projects that will soon run in some cars of the automotive industry.

I have the privilege to work with an international team located in Japan, Germany and, of course, Zagreb. We have been working on the SCRUM principles and on projects where there are no stupid questions or answers. The atmosphere is very pleasant to work in, which is very important since we have been working both from home or in a hybrid mode for quite some time.
