Description:
We are seeking a skilled Back-End Developer to join our team and contribute to building and maintaining microservices, APIs, and database operations for a leading obituary management platform. The developer will play a key role in ensuring seamless functionality of the system that powers obituary intake, submission processes, and the underlying data infrastructure.
Requirements:
- Python (3.9): Strong experience with Python scripting, especially for API, microservices, and backend processes within the obituary intake system.
- Django: Proficiency with Django, including Async frameworks to enhance system performance.
- Node.js (10 & 18): Skilled in Node.js for back-end services, specifically for managing obituary-related workflows.
- AWS Services: SQS, Docker.
- Additional AWS Tools: Experience with AWS Secrets, Lambda functions, and Cloudwatch for secure and reliable service operations.
- Databases: Expertise in PostgreSQL (version 13.8, RDS) for obituary data storage and querying.
- API Design: Strong understanding of RESTful API principles to facilitate smooth front-end and microservice interactions.

Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain microservices and APIs to support the obituary system’s various features.
- Handle and optimize data storage and querying processes using PostgreSQL, particularly tailored for obituary data.
- Build and manage back-end services with a strong emphasis on managing obituary submissions, content workflows, and user data.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs for smooth front-end and microservice communication.
- Ensure scalable, reliable, and secure operations using AWS, specifically leveraging SQS, Docker, and other AWS services like Lambda, Secrets, and Cloudwatch.
- Work closely with front-end and DevOps teams to provide a robust and highly functional obituary system.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing microservices for better efficiency and scalability.
- Maintain documentation and support efficient deployment practices for all back-end components.
