Description:
The Digital Health organization is technology team which focused on next generation Digital Health capabilities which deliver on the Medicine mission and vision to deliver Insight Driven Care. This role will operate within the Digital Health Applications & Interoperability subgroup of the broader Digital Health team, focused on patient engagement, care coordination, AI, healthcare analytics & interoperability amongst other advanced technologies which enhance our product portfolio with new services, while improving clinical & patient experiences.
The project is a cloud-based PaaS Ecosystem built with a privacy by design centric approach to provide a centralized cloud-based platform to store, classify, and control access to federated datasets in a scalable, secure, and efficient manner.
The ecosystem will allow Customer Operating Units (medical device departments) to store federated data sets of varying sizes and formats and control access to those data sets through Data steward(s). Source data sets can be exposed to qualified use cases and workflows through different project types.
The Healthcare Data Platform ecosystem will provide ML/AI project capabilities for streamlined development processes and a ML/AI workbench to enhance data exploration, wrangling, and model training.
In queue: 15+ OU’s. At this moment focused on – Nuero, Cardio, Diabetes is the OU that data platform is working with, but there could be more OU’s coming up with requirements in future.
GL Role: is to work on the enhancement of current capabilities, including taking over the work that AWS proserve team is doing, and develop new requirements that will keep coming from different OU’s in the future.
Requirements:
Key and strict expectations: HL7, PHIR, DICOM, EHR, EMR, AWS, Python, Terraform.
- 12+ years in IT with strong enterprise-level Solution Architecture skills.
- Proficient in backend, frontend, infrastructure, and data architecture with exposure to business architecture.
- Strong knowledge with the ability to provide immediate trade-off analysis and solutions for large and complex systems.
- Experience with IoT, Big Data, Generative AI, Microservices, Cloud, Security, and more.
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions and resolve complex issues quickly and effectively.
- Proven skills in working across organizations and leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong ability to manage stakeholders and communicate effectively.
- Hands-on enterprise-level production experience, preferably with high-load and/or near real-time systems.
- Experience with additional tech stacks such as Python, .Net, Node.js is advantageous.
- Proficient with Azure, AWS, GCP, and AI instruments on these platforms (with a preference for AWS).
- Healthcare or Medical Device experience
- Experience working with Healthcare Data, including HL7v2, FHIR and DICOM
- Building software classified as Software as a Medical Device (SaMD)
- Understanding of EMR/EHR technologies such as EPIC, Cerner, etc…
- HealthCare Interoperability Tools: Experience with integration engines such as Intersystems, Lyniate, Redox, Mirth Connect, etc…
- Experience implementation enterprise grade cyber security & privacy by design into software products
- Experience working in Digital Health software
- AWS Platform/services – in particular serverless architectures (S3, RDS, Lamba, IAM, API Gateway, etc…) supporting API development in a microservices architecture
- Infrastructure as Code: Experience with Terraform and CloudFormation – Proven ability to write and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Programming Languages: Strong programming skills in Python, JS
- Data Formats: Experience with JSON, XML and other relevant data formats
- CI/CD Tools: experience setting up and managing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar tools
- Monitoring and Logging: Familiarity with monitoring & logging tools like CloudWatch, ELK, Dynatrace, Prometheus, etc…
- Documentation: Experience with markdown and in particular Antora for creating technical documentation
- Experience developing global applications
- Software estimation
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-level technical architectures, including backend, frontend, infrastructure, and data systems.
- Develop and maintain business architecture to ensure alignment with technical solutions.
- Provide expert guidance on design patterns and quality attributes, performing trade-off analysis for large and complex systems.
- Apply creativity and problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions and address complex technical challenges efficiently.
- Drive continuous improvement in system architecture and development processes.
- Work collaboratively across different teams and departments to ensure cohesive and effective project execution.

- Effectively communicate technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure their requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Participate in hands-on coding and development, primarily using Java, and potentially other tech stacks such as Python, .Net, or Node.js.
- Ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability in high-load and near-real-time systems.
- Design and implement solutions on AWS
- Optimize cloud infrastructure for cost, performance, and security.
- Establish and enforce best practices for software development, including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
- Ensure solutions meet high standards of quality, performance, and security.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in technology to inform strategic planning and innovation.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance the architecture and development processes.
