GlobalLogic has celebrated a win at the 2025 RDK Hackathon for its groundbreaking Wi-Fi Sensing Project—a recognition that highlights not only the company’s deep technical expertise, but also its strength in driving open-source innovation within the broadband ecosystem.
Over a six-week development period, GlobalLogic engineers created a comprehensive Wi-Fi Sensing solution—a system that uses Wi-Fi signals not just for connectivity, but also to sense movement and changes in the surrounding environment. This kind of technology can help make broadband networks smarter and more responsive, which is especially valuable for applications like home automation, security, or health monitoring. The project encompassed a CSI (Channel State Information) data extractor, a motion estimation algorithm, an RDK CCSP module extending the TR-181 data model, and a complementary mobile application.
The award-winning solution adds another layer to this value—bringing smarter, sensor-enabled capabilities to RDK-enabled devices that can help operators better understand user behavior, optimize services, and drive new revenue streams.
The RDK community brings together more than 600 organizations, from CPE manufacturers and SoC vendors to service providers and software developers. With RDK deployed on over 100 million devices, its impact is global and growing. By standardizing core functions like device management, telemetry, and app experiences, RDK enables operators to deliver consistent, high-quality broadband and video services across diverse platforms and geographies.
"We are very proud to receive this recognition from RDK as it underscores the agility and technical capabilities of our engineering team. RDK is the leading open-source software solution used by today’s broadband and video service providers, and we’re fully committed to furthering its adoption with our customers and partners across the globe. The fact that we won the RDK Hackathon for the second time during the last 5 years demonstrates clearly our commitment and excellence."
"Eli Schwarzfuchs, SVP and Head of Broadband, GlobalLogic"
"RDK’s success is driven by our community, especially innovative contributors and leaders such as GlobalLogic. Their award-winning selection for the 2025 RDK Hackathon is a testament to their ingenuity and commitment to RDK, and we look forward to their continued contributions."
