The Software Development Department at GlobalLogic is focused on delivering high-quality software solutions to meet the evolving needs of our clients. Our team comprises experienced professionals specializing in various aspects of software engineering, from system architecture and design to implementation and testing
Project Description:
The Backup and Images team is responsible for maintaining products related to VM restoration and several supporting libraries and services, including Mips and Bsdaemon. These products require updates to the latest versions of Python or Perl and need to transition to an image based on Debian 11+.
As part of this project, the team will:
• Update containers or machine configurations to support new software versions
• Refactor and update dependencies, tests, and code to ensure compatibility and stability
• Develop non-regression tests for any identified bugs, ensuring existing tests remain intact
• Deliver updates to production, adhering to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes
Requirements:
Educational Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Technical Skills:
• Extensive experience with Python and Perl, particularly in updating and maintaining large codebases
• Proficiency in Linux-based environments
• Strong familiarity with Salt for configuration management
• Expertise in containerization tools like Docker
• Knowledge of Artifactory for artifact management
• Experience with system updates and application configuration on Debian-based systems
• Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and tools
Professional Experience:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on Python
• Proven track record of updating software dependencies and maintaining compatibility
• Experience in developing and maintaining automated tests and non-regression tests
• Familiarity with SDLC processes and best practices
Soft Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Self-motivated and capable of leading projects independently
Job Responsibilities:
• Lead the effort to update the Backup and Images team’s products to the latest versions of Python or Perl
• Update containers or machine configurations as necessary to support new software versions
• Refactor and update dependencies, tests, and code to ensure compatibility with the latest versions
• Identify and develop non-regression tests for any bugs found, ensuring that existing tests remain intact and functional
• Ensure comprehensive testing is conducted to avoid any disruption to existing functionalities
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes
• Collaborate with the development and QA teams to integrate automated testing into the development lifecycle
• Participate in and lead code reviews, providing constructive feedback to improve code quality
• Deliver updates to production following the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes
